Maisons Alfort is a commune in the Val de Marne department, in the Île de France region. It lies 3 kilometers southeast of Paris, on the south bank of the Marne, and is part of the capital's urban unit. With a population of 56,483 in 2019, Maisons Alfort is the sixth most populous commune in its département. Before 1885, it covered a larger area, but lost this when the commune of Alfortville was created. Today, with a surface area of 5.35 km², its population density is 10,558 inhabitants per square kilometer. Maisons Alfort boasts 75 hectares of green spaces open to the public: 8 parks, 14 squares, 2 gardens, 1 farm, pedestrian walkways, as well as numerous landscaped and flowered areas. In addition, there are more than 2,400 private gardens.
