Nanterre is a commune in the Hauts de Seine department (of which it is the prefecture), in the Île de France region. It is the second most populous city in the department and the sixth largest in the region. The Paris Nanterre University campus is home to over 30,000 students. With a population of 96,277 in 2019 and a surface area of 12.19km², it has a population density of 7,898 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Nanterre has 563 condominiums, mostly with fewer than 10 lots (246) and between 11 and 49 lots (228). The vast majority are managed by professional syndicates (277), while only 60 are managed by non-professional syndicates. 133 of these condominiums were built before 1949. Construction then fell off until 2000, before returning to a rising trend.
Nanterre's plans include renovation of the RER station, construction of apartment blocks, development of the Natalys area and completion of the Hoche median strip. The relocation and renovation of the "Nanterre-Université" station to create a new multimodal transport hub has already resulted in the upgrading of the area around the station, near the Université Paris Ouest, as well as the Cité des Provinces Françaises (University district), with the creation of retail, office and residential space. A viaduct over the new station, open to pedestrians, motorists and buses, will link the Anatole France residential area to the University district and the rest of the city. The construction of a housing complex, Les Voiles Blanches, in the Anatole France sector, will include student accommodation and apartments subsidized for home ownership.
As a homeowner in Nanterre, you'll pay an average of €34 per m² in condominium charges, which can vary from €19 to €52. Current charges for an apartment or house in a condominium vary according to a number of criteria. The presence of an employee to look after the garden, for example, or of a janitor, will considerably increase costs.
For example, if you own an apartment in a residence with between 11 and 49 main lots, you'll pay an average of €1,637 in running costs, or €136 per month. Conversely, if you live in a residence with between 50 and 199 lots, you'll pay an average of €2,000 in running costs, or €166 per month.
